Oh, ware rising tides
Sun sets over breaking waves
Peril cloaked in grace
Today the journey continues. South of San Francisco on the California coast lies the quaint towns of Monterey and Carmel-by-the-Sea. Such beauty and history resides here. Rugged coast dances with powerful waves, and sea life flourishes in abundance. The Monterey Bay Aquarium show cases much of the wildlife housed in these waters. Knowledge ebbs and flows like the tides.
This Haiku is a call back to my days as a lifeguard in a small beach town much farther south than this. I know first hand how the waves and the tides can be beautiful but can also be dangerous. Always swim near a lifeguard and never turn your back on the ocean.
